Ron Paul: secession is inevitable.

Here in California we just experienced an effort to split the state into five.  Not quite secession, but a symptom of the same disgust with gigantic, all intrusive government.

Mr. Paul feels this way about it:

"It's something that I think is going to grow, because the failure of the federal government is going to get much worse," he said. "When the bankruptcy evolves, and maybe some of these pension funds are confiscated, and the wars never end, and bankruptcy comes forth, people [will say], 'Hey, we're getting a bad deal from this. Why don't we leave?' "
He added: "I think it's inevitable people wanting to leave will be there, and the numbers will grow."
Frankly, in the present condition of the federal government, I'm not sure it could mount a real military effort to prevent a large state or region from declaring independence and setting up on their own.   Who would be reliable soldiers in such an endeavor?  Even during the Civil War, there was a very strong movement to let the south go, which required constant attention to combat.
Now, I wonder if there would be any stomach for resistance to secession at all.  Interesting times indeed.

  1. The way I look at it, I don't want to secede from the USA--I want the lefties to leave instead! I want to keep the US Constitution as the law of the land, but it seems everyone on the left doesn't want to use the Constitution as the basis of law, so they are the ones who should leave. The lefties can all move to New York and California, and leave us the rest of the country.

    1. In California, they can have the coastal enclaves - sort of city states. We keep the rest.

    2. Blaming the "lefties" is an over simplification of the problem The WHOLE government is useless and needs voted out and replaced with people who will do what is good for the country instead of just their own personal interest groups. The lack of bipartisanship is destroying our country. Someone behind the curtain is using the "divide and conquer " tactic and it is working. We couldn't be defeated or fail when we were Americans first and conservative or liberal second. I fear the "look at for Number one" attitude marks the end of our great nation. I won't live to see it go but I already mourn it's loss.

That will not undo or change the damage, there needs to be a real "reset" of some kind. For example; in the "land of the free" the Federal Government alone has written an average of 200 laws per year for 227 years now, add to that the fact that so-called regulators can publish any amount of nonsense in the "Federal Register" and unless Congress directly challenges their "regulation" within one year -it becomes de facto Law.
The lack of bipartisanship is the only think keeping this from being a thousand new laws every year; hell, we need tripartisanship, or even more roadblocks to the passage of unnecessary tyranny. How about a Third house of Congress whose sole job is to Repeal crap laws? How about a fourth branch of government dedicated to enforcing the Constitution upon the rest of the government -a House of Reviews that inspects not only the laws themselves, but has the power to remove from office any politician who is only selectively enforcing the laws they "feel" like enforcing.
the "look at for Number one" attitude -is what built this nation; the INDIVIDUAL doing what is in his or her best interests and having the Freedom to do so.
Time to plant a New Tree of Liberty, the old one had been rotted from within.

    1. My goodness! I voiced my opinion. What is going on in your life that makes you so angry?

    2. How is pointing out the problems we face and a few suggestions toward their repair a personal attack or some kind of hostility toward you?

    3. did I say I felt attacked? Did I say you are hostile towards me? I said you appear angry. Our republic was not built by people looking out for number one. It was built by people willing to sacrifice for the greater good. when I was in the military I was part of a team. we had each other's back. That is how we survived. What happened to the "united" part of the United States? I would like to see a lot of changes made. I would like to see us come home from the middle east and concentrate our efforts on making America Better. While the repubs and the dems have been bickering the country has suffered. Our infrastructure is falling down, our power grid is antique, our jobs all went overseas. Now is not the time to throw in the towel, now is the time to stand together and make it better. I'll quit commenting now and you can have the last word if you want it.

  4. The tyrants in D.C. won't let that happen. It will take total collapse that will be immediately followed by martial law, and after that anarchy. After that, whatever is left will rise into independent states. If there is anything left.
