Size comparison between the Falcon Heavy and a Saturn V

  1. The Saturn V was in a class by itself. Technology has come a long way since then, but the Falcon Heavy won't send a crew to the Moon and return them safely to Earth. The Saturn V did that over and over.

  2. As much as I would like to compare the falcon heavy and the Saturn V, the Falcon heavy is really only a direct competitor to the Delta IV heavy for payloads to geostationary locations. With the Falcon heavy only having better performance to low earth orbit.

In other words, it's a numbers game and the Falcon heavy is a much smaller and less capable rocket when compared to the Saturn V.

Well, from a practical standpoint, the FH can loft a small manned capsule and get it around the moon. Nobody thinks it can lift enough mass to the moon's surface to replicate past missions.
